Airport Hamburg

Hamburg Airport (also called Hamburg-Fuhlsbüttel Airport) is located in Hamburg which is a major city in the north of Germany. In terms of passengers numbers, Hamburg airport is the fifth largest airport in Germany. Hamburg airport was formerly called "Hamburg Fühlsbüttel Airport" and consists of two terminals as well as an airport plaza. The plaza is home to security and duty-free shops, cafes, bars and restaurants. There are a number of travel agents offering cheap last minute flights and holidays in Terminal 2 (departure level) and on level 2 and 4 of Terminal 1. The low-cost airlines German Wings, Condor and Easyjet operate cheap flights from Hamburg. Popular domestic routes such as the flight Munich - Hamburg, or Stuttgart – Hamburg are served by Lufthansa and Airberlin. Direct flights from New York to Hamburg are operated by United Airlines and take just under 8 hours. Alternatively, Lufthansa and Turkish airlines also operate flights from New York to Hamburg with one stopover. Hamburg Airport is used by about 430 aircraft per day and almost 14 million passengers are handled annually.

Travelers can use public transport, a private car or rental car to get to and from the airport. Terstappen, Sixt, Hertz, Europcar and Avis all have rental car offices at Terminal 2 (arrivals level). Passengers wishing to return a rental car to Hamburg airport may do so in the parking lot P5. Hamburg Airport parking is available in the terminal parking lots P1 to P5 and in the cheaper yet more distant parking lots P8 and P9 (long stay parking). There are also short stay parking zones in front of the departures hall of Terminal 1 and 2. Parking fees can be paid for by credit, debit card or cash at the ticket machines in the parking lots. Airport transfer is possible by bus and train via the S-Bahn station "Hamburg Airport (Flughafen)" and the bus stops outside the terminals. The S-Bahn line S1 takes about 25 minutes from the airport to Hamburg central railway station; bus numbers 26, 39, 274, 292 and 606 go from the airport to downtown Hamburg and other districts of Hamburg as well as surrounding towns and villages.

Passengers with flights that arrive late at night or those leaving early can stay at one of the Hamburg airport hotels. The Radisson Blu Hotel, located next to the car parks, is particularly close to the airport. Alternatively, please head for the nearby Hamburg Airport or Leonardo Hotel Hamburg Airport, or the Motel One Hamburg Airport Hotel and Ibis Hamburg Airport Hotel south-east of the airport.
