To reach Izmir airport motorists may use the Izmir-Aydın highway or the European road 87 (Dereköy - Antalya). Public transport is provided by the Havas shuttle bus which takes passengers from Alsancak (Efes Hotel) or Mavisehir (EGE Park) to the airport and back. The journey takes about 50 minutes. Travelling at night will cost a little more than during the day. Trains or the city bus lines provide an alternative. Line 200 runs from Adnan Menderes Airport to Mavisehir, line 202 goes to Cumhuriyet Meydani and line 204 to Otogar. The city train line 1 (İZBAN) takes passengers to the city centre of Alsancak (journey time: approximately 30 minutes) and to Aliağa (journey time: approximately one and a half hours). Those arriving from further afield can also take regional trains which stop at the airport station.

Rental cars are an affordable alternative for those who want to remain independent and mobile while on holiday. Passengers are able to rent a car around the clock in one of the rental car offices directly at Izmir Airport, for example at one of the international car rental companies (Avis, Europcar, Hertz, Payless Car Rental, Sixt, etc.) or alternatively at a national provider such as Işıl Tur or Zafer Rent A Car.

Taxis are also available at Izmir airport, please however bear in mind that the airport is located about 18 km or 11 miles from Izmir city centre and the ride can be expensive. It is therefore advisable to agree on a fixed price beforehand in order to avoid a nasty surprise at the end of the journey.
