More information about Milan Airport
By 1998, the airport was modernized extensively and airlines were persuaded to move from the older airport Milan-Linate to Malpensa. The airport now has two terminals and two take-off and landing runways. Terminal 1 is used mainly by scheduled and charter flights. This is also the location of the station which can be used to take the Malpensa Express trains to Cadorna railway station and the main train station. Terminal 2 is used mainly by low cost airlines. For the occasion of the World Expo 2015 in Milan there are ambitions to build a third runway and landing strip at the airport. There is, however, opposition from local residents and conservationists.
By car, the airport is easy to reach on the highways 8 and 26. The Malpensa Express train leaves every 30 minutes from Terminal 2 to Milan. The journey takes about 40 minutes. There are bus stops in the arrivals area of both terminals; from here buses such as the Malpensa-Shuttle go to the main station in Milan at 20-minute intervals.
