Airport Prague
Prague Airport (Czech: Praha-Ruzyne) is located in the north-west of the Czech capital and is the hub of Ruzyne Czech Airlines. The airport has a capacity of about 11.5 million passengers per year and in 2009 was the busiest airport in the new EU Member States. It has also twice been awarded “best airport in Central and Eastern Europe” by British company Skytrax. Prague Airport was opened in 1937. The check-in building (now Terminal 4) was very modern at the time and in the same year the airport won the gold medal at the Paris World Exhibition. It was also a filming location in the James Bond film "Casino Royale" in 2006 (appearing as "Miami International Airport"). After a petition organised by the airport that collected tens of thousands of passenger signatures, there are plans to rename the airport Václav Havel Prague International Airport to honour the first Czech president who died in 2011. British Airways fly from numerous UK airports to Prague. Particularly cheap flights to Prague are operated by many airlines from a number of UK airports such as Easyjet from Stansted to Prague or Wizzair. Flights from London to Prague take just under 2 hours. To get to and from the airport in Prague, passengers can use the Airport Express train, which departs every 30 minutes from Prague's main train station, the bus number 119 (from Dejvická station on metro line A) or 100 (from Zličín on metro line B). Arriving by car is possible via the A1, A6 and A7 motorway. Parking at the airport in Prague is available in the multi-storey car park located directly opposite Terminal 1. Local car rental companies have offices on the ground floor of the car park and will advise passengers on arrival at the airport. Long-stay parking is also available. There are plenty of comfortable hotels at and near the airport. Directly in Prague Airport at Terminals 1 and 2 is the Courtyard by Marriott Prague Airport Hotel and the Hotel Holiday Inn Prague Airport. The Ramada Airport Hotel Prague and the Full Board Accommodation Hotel (FBA) are in Terminal 3.
