More information about Rome Airport
Rome is well suited for an extensive city tour as well as a short holiday. From Rome Fiumicino airport, Rome city centre and the major attractions such as the Colosseum, the Spanish Steps and the Trevi Fountain can be reached using one of many transfer options. By train, passengers can quickly and easily reach the centre of the capital – either using the Leonardo Express, which departs every 30 minutes and takes only half an hour to get to Rome Termini train station, or a regional train. This operates at 15-minute intervals from the airport to the trade fair and to the central train stations Trastevere, Ostiense, Tuscolana and Tiburtina. From here, regional trains or metro lines leave for central station. The journey takes slightly longer using regional trains.
Transfer to and from the airport is, of course, also possible by taxi. Taxis will take passengers along the A91 motorway towards the city. Taxi ranks are to be found in all terminals. Terminal 3 is also served by express buses operated by the shuttle bus company Terravision, which takes passengers quickly to Rome city centre (main station, Roma Termini). Public transport buses (COTRAL) to Rome leave from Terminal 2.
Tourists who wish to explore Italy by hire car, will find a selection of car hire companies at Rome Fiumicino Airport, including national car rental companies such as Locauto Rent and Maggiore, as well as the international companies Budget and Europcar. The desks of the car rental companies are located in the office tower 2 which is well signposted and clearly visible from the arrivals hall.
