Airport Venice
Venice airport is located just off the Venetian lagoon, just 12 km or 8 miles from downtown. The airport was named after the 13/14th Century world traveler and long-distance trader, Marco Polo. So besides carrying the name Venice-Tessera, the airport is officially known as Venice Marco Polo Airport. Although the airport has only one terminal, it is one of the five major airports in Italy, not only because of its proximity to the city of Venice, which is popular with tourists, but also because of the connection to the ski resorts in the Dolomites. Buses connect the airport to the train stations Mestre-Venezia and Venezia-Santa Lucia. In addition, the bus number 5 operates a regular service between the Piazzale Roma in Venice and the airport. From the airport, St. Mark's Square can be reached by water taxi.
