One block north of Calle Tacuba is tree-shaded Calle Donceles, where you'll find the eight-story (with elevator) Hotel Catedral, half a block from the Templo Mayor and a block from the Museo San Ildefonso. The Catedral's location is ideal for sightseeing, and the central downtown district is experiencing a revival. Because heavily trafficked streets surround the hotel, add 45 minutes to your departure time if you go to the airport from here. In front of the big, marble-embellished lobby is the bustling restaurant. The cozy bar beyond the reception desk also serves food. Ask for a top-floor room with a view.
