Sao Paulo-Congonhas International Airport, behind Guarulhos Airport, also in Sao Paulo, is the second most important airport in Brazil. Campinas-Viracopos airport is 70 miles north west and is part of the metrolpolitan region, operated by the state owned airport operator INRAERO. There are plans to expand this airport extensively in the coming years and on completion it will most probably be the largest airport in South America.
